About Jasmine
Jas has been in the veterinary field for 7 years, starting when she was just 15 years old.
What inspired you to work in the Veterinary field?
I’ve always wanted to be a veterinarian since I was three. Growing up with a godmother who owned a veterinary clinic, I had the privilege of observing the daily practice of a vet clinic, which inspired me further.
Share a memorable or heart-warming experience you have had while working with animals in the clinic.
One of my most memorable clinic experiences was with an elderly golden retriever with arthritis. Despite his pain, he always wagged his tail at his devoted owner. One day, he struggled to walk, and his owner was heartbroken. We eased his discomfort, and even then, his tail gave a small, grateful wag. Later, his owner returned with a heartfelt thank-you card, a reminder of the deep bonds we nurture in this field.
What do you find most rewarding about your work with animals?
The most rewarding part of working with animals is making a difference—easing their pain, helping them heal, or simply earning their trust. Seeing a once-nervous patient relax or a pet perk up after treatment reminds me why I chose this path. Witnessing the deep bond between animals and their owners makes every challenge worthwhile.
Do you have any special interests or areas of expertise within veterinary medicine?
I am currently completing the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, aspiring to become a veterinarian. While I have yet to choose a specialisation, the journey itself is what excites me — each experience shaping my path and guiding me towards the right field.
What advice would you give to pet owners for maintaining their pets health and well-being?
For pet owners, maintaining health and well-being starts with regular vet check-ups, a balanced diet, and regular exercise. Keep up with vaccinations, parasite control, and dental care. Recognise signs of illness early, as pets often hide discomfort. Provide mental stimulation and create a loving, secure environment to support both their physical and emotional health.
Outside of work do you have any pets of your own? If so, tell us about them.
I have two cats, Sally and Goosey, who are siblings but incredibly different in both looks and personality. Sally is a sassy white domestic medium hair, who fooled me by her surprisingly short coat as a kitten. Goosey, on the other hand, is a playful ginger domestic short hair with big yellow eyes, and he always reminds me of Puss in Boots with his charming, mischievous nature.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of this particular veterinary clinic/team?
What I enjoy most about being part of this veterinary clinic/team is the strong relationship dynamic we share. We work really well together, efficiently getting things done, but what makes it even more special is the genuine friendship we maintain. We truly look out for one another, supporting each other like family, whether it’s helping out when someone’s feeling down or just offering a helping hand when needed. It creates such a positive and caring work environment.
